Don Giovanni

Cincinnati Opera

New Production

Mozart’s masterpiece follows Don Giovanni, a man who uses people without a care for their hearts, or the consequences. Will he get away with his unrepentant pursuit of selfish desire? Or will there be hell to pay? Alison Moritz makes her mainstage directing debut at Cincinnati Opera just a year after helming the world staged premiere of The Knock for the company. This new production features a stunning cast and new designs by Philip Witcomb. Jane Glover conducts.

Elizabeth Cree

Glimmerglass Opera

New Production

Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s modern masterpiece Elizabeth Cree rounds out the season’s mainstage roster in a new production directed by Alison Moritz. Set in London in the 1880s, this highly suspenseful and theatrical opera interweaves several narratives: the trial of the titular heroine for the poisoning of her husband; a series of brutal murders committed by a Jack the Ripper-style killer; the spirited world of an English music hall; and, finally, some “guest appearances” by luminaries from the Victorian Age.
This new production will feature scenic design by Edward Morris, costumes by Amanda Seymour, and lights by Kate Ashton.
